Surrounded by the spiritual vibe of the nature and the hula tradition, you will be amazed by what Hilo can offer. The 4-day festival includes:
Total of 6 workshops are available. You will learn 3 each of hula kahiko and hula auana that praise Pele, the volcano goddess, the lehua, and sacred Hilo in the Big Island. Please wear something RED to the event!
Additional to the wonderful workshops, we also offer live Hawaiian music, hula performance by local Hula Halau, and mele hula parties that you can enjoy watching and show off what you learned.
There will be a lot of vendors that sell unique Hawaiian arts and crafts. Make sure to get some omiyage (souvenirs) for your auntie!
You will be given a Hula Town Hilo pass at the registration desk when you sign in. For non-residents and international guests, the fee is $300 and it includes all the workshops and parties (food not included). If you are a Hawai‘i resident, you can choose which workshop/s you want to attend and pay $40 per workshop. The payment needs to be paid at the registration desk on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 only. The price will not include the cost of food.
We are also planning to have an optional volcano tour to recite ho‘okupu ritual with Kumu Hula Frank Kawaikapuokalani Hewett. The fee for this tour is $55 and it needs to be paid separately. We will leave the hotel around 9am and come back around 3pm. This tour includes lunch. Minimum of 13 people is required to hold this tour.

He hali‘a Aloha No Lili‘uokalani Festival by Iwalani Kalima will be held at Lili‘uokalani Park on Sunday, September 26, the very next day of Hula Town Hilo. The festival begins at 10am and all participants dance 2 hula songs, hula kahiko "E Lili‘u e" and auana "Aloha week hula" at 11:45am. So stay one more day and come join us for this Lili‘uokalani tribute.
